Jordle

Jordle is a word game inspired by the famous Wordle. The player's task is to guess the hidden word in 6 tries. A new puzzle is available every day.

  • Guess the word: Just like Wordle, your goal is to guess a hidden word in a set number of tries (typically six).
  • Word length: Jordle focuses on five-letter words, instead of Wordle's five-letter format.
  • Daily challenge: There's a new Jordle word available each day, keeping the game fresh and challenging.
  • Color-coded clues: After each guess, the letters you enter are color-coded to provide hints:
    • Green: The letter is in the correct position in the word.
    • Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in a different position.
    • Black: The letter is not in the word at all.
  • No double letters: Unlike Wordle, Jordle answers won't have any repeated letters. This can add an extra layer of difficulty as you rule out potential guesses.

How to play Jordle

Using Mouse and Keyboard.

How to Win?

Optimize your first guess:

  • Start with a word that has a good spread of vowels (like "adieu") or common consonants (like "stern"). This increases the likelihood of getting some colored clues to guide your subsequent guesses.
  • Leverage strong starting words from Wordle: Many words that work well in Wordle, like "irate" or "raise," are also great options for Jordle due to their vowel distribution and common letter usage.

Pay attention to the colors:

  • Analyze the colors carefully after each guess. Green letters lock into their positions, so prioritize using them effectively in your next tries.
  • Yellow letters indicate the letter exists but is misplaced. Try placing them in different spots in your following guesses.
  • Black letters are simply out. Eliminate them from your word pool to avoid wasting attempts.

Utilize strategic elimination:

  • Once you have yellow or black clues, use them to strategically eliminate possibilities. For example, if the letter "R" is yellow and you know it's not in the second position, remove all words with "R" in the second spot from your mental list.
